Operational since 2015, Friends of Zamalek Strays is a welfare programme dedicated to the street animals of Zamalek. They rescue 5-15 animals per month on average, however without a facility of their own, they depend on outsourcing locations to neuter and vaccinate the dogs and cats. Today, most of the Zamalek dogs are known, have names and valid up to date passports. A large number of cats are neutered and are fed on a daily basis in different locations.
