It’s hard for me to even think about rehoming Harley. She came into my life when she was just 30 days old—tiny, fragile, and full of potential. A few weeks later, she got really sick with Parvo, which I learned can be common in Rottweiler puppies because of their weaker immune systems. A lot of people told me she wouldn’t make it, but she proved them all wrong!. We spent weeks going to the vet every day, and I’d stay with her from morning to evening, bringing her home each night. One day, she just started to get better, and from then on, our bond has never been broken, and most likely never will.
Forget what you’ve heard about Rottweilers—Harley will show you how untrue that is. She’s the most gentle, loving, and sweet dog you’ll ever meet. Sure, she’s a big girl and sometimes forgets just how big she is, but she’s always careful, and with a little bit of correction in new settings, she adjusts quickly. She’s also been an amazing companion for my partner and me, even helping us through tough times. She just seems to know when we’re feeling down and comes over to comfort us with her big, warm presence. It’s been 2.5 years of pure joy and unconditional love.
A Little More About Harley:
She’s got a quirky love for veggies—especially cucumbers and carrots. We always joke that she’s a “vegan” because she goes crazy for a cucumber!
She’s about 40 kilos, but don’t let her size fool you—she’s a total softie.
She is an archaeologist, she collect precious rocks (they are just normal rocks really). We even have a rock corner in the house with all her “findings”. She can get a bit protective over them, but it’s adorable more than anything.
She’s a little bit of an introvert with dogs, but randomly clicks with others and becomes quite playful. She is happiest when she’s outdoors, but also she is very quite indoors, she just chills (until someone rings the bell), she will let you know there is someone at the door. Plus, she’s great with people and other dogs—always friendly (honestly she likes people more!). First time she learned how to swim was in Lebanon!.
It truly breaks my heart to have to find a new home for her, but I know that whoever is lucky enough to welcome her will be getting the same love, joy, and loyalty she’s brought into our home. She’s one of a kind, and I hope her next family cherishes her just as much as I do.
