Ready to Travel:
He’s around 10 years old with a birth defect causing him to be deaf in one ear, and some blindness in 1 eye due to age. He is otherwise healthy and quite energetic but also very gentle and warm. He does well with humans, kids and other dogs except for some aggression/sensitivity around food. He does ok with cats. He loves to wander and will walk around for hours without tiring but he also loves to nap next to me as i watch tv or work. He doesn’t like to (or know how to) play with any toys or fetch etc..
He likes real food or wet food over dry. Loves most kinds of treats, blueberries, bananas, apples, cucumbers. Doesn’t at all like beans or carrots or peanut butter.
He is not reactive to humans or kids. He’s very gentle and patient and loves being petted and scratched behind his ears. He’s even calm during grooming and vet visits. He doesnt bite or chew (the only threat to your shoes is pee). He rarely barks and only from his excitement for food. He wont run off if you drop the leash, he is unaffected by street dogs when he goes on walks. He’s great on a road trip - doesnt panic at being in a car and LOVES to dangle his head out of a tuktuk every time.
He’s not on any medication. However, the medical history we can assume is that he has had some injury to one of his hind legs and it only barely shows in his walk (it looks a little duckish). He has had 1 infection from his ear while ive had him and had to have an abscess cleaned. We assume he has had a similar one before from an old scar found when he was shaved for this abscess cleaning.
He is deaf (by birth defect) in one ear, and partially blind (cataracts from old age) in one eye but these dont stop him from living life, he just has bad spatial awareness at times.
The core issue is that unfortunately, it seems he was neglected in his previous home and has no training or language understanding at all, this includes potty training. So, he needs to have access to a garden at all times. He has peed puddles into several of my shoes, on his own bed, on the couch. He will pee & poop indoors throughout the night especially. He needs a home where there is always someone there because he has separation anxiety, he'll tear the house down looking for food if left alone (he's knocked a rice cooker off the kitchen counter once and eaten through a full plastic bag another). He doesn't grab food off a plate on the table if you're around the house, but he will dig through the trash and knock things over if left completely alone indoors. He doesn't take well to be locked into a confined space at all ( he has broken through a crate and a metal play pen). He needs constant attention even if it's as simple as sitting in the same room with him. He does also like to wander, so if the garden isn't fully secured he will wander out of it.
