About Me
*Brief update on Lulu:* September 6th
• She’s now about 9 months old
• 12.5-13kgs last time weighed last month
• long legs like a deer
• shes grown to have seperation anxiety so she whines a lot (understandable with her disability and limited mobility) but she has complete freedom inside or outside the house she has access to the garden at all times but she now prefers the indoors and mostly goes out (on her own) to go potty
• she needs an at home garden/back yard to do her potty and spend outdoor time because she cant go on walks without her wheelchair yet and she cant go potty in the wheelchair.
• her right arm will be amputated and we might be scheduling the surgery end of September inshallah
• also planning to make a special prosthetic arm harness for her if needed after recovery from surgery (we will need sponsors/contributors for her surgery once we know its cost)
Puppy Lulu's story began months ago when she and her two sisters suddenly appeared in our neighborhood without their mom. We used to feed them daily for months until one day in February we found Lulu alone whining and unable to move at all. We're still uncertain of what really happened but all vets assumed she was a victim of a hit and run. Lulu suffered a sever spinal cord injury which caused immobility and nearly paralysis in her upper body. For the first month and half from her accident she stayed in two different clinics both sadly did not do her good and caused her many bed ulcers that took months later to heal.
I took Lulu home on April 11th the most affected arm from the accident became totally stiff and immobile but that did not stop her and now she's learning to walk on three and progressing. She was declared a lost cause by vets but we never gave up on her and she proved them all wrong. Lulu came home malnourished and weighing 7kgs at five months old, now she's nearly 13kgs at 9 months old. We only gave her the food (shes a huge foodie which has been her literal life saver) and love that she needed including physical therapy, hydrotherapy, regular exercise and putting her in her wheelchair regularly made a huge difference in strengthening her working legs (both hind legs and front left arm). Her vets think her injured arm is of no use anymore and is best to be amputated a few months later when her walk on three gets a bit better and she's also not. spayed yet because we want to wait till she's stronger before any surgeries. (we will fully fundraise for that if she gets adopted pre-surgery)
Lulu has become very attached to us and to people in general and LOVES cuddles and attention. She's also been doing great at vet visits despite how they mistreated her at the beginning of her healing journey. She is one of the strongest personalities I have ever met in my life and she has the sweetest eyes that radiate life and joy. She's a healthy beautiful baladi and really deserves the best.
