About Me
Layla is a very active dog. She prefers cuddles and kisses over food. She loves to play and socialize with humans and other dogs.
From the first moment, she will be all over you for some fun and love. She’s very smart and extremely flexible. Her all time favorite is to be carried like a baby or snuggle up on the couch. You can spend an entire day cuddling and playing she will not get bored. She responds well to positive reinforcement and scolding. When i used to work from home, she is very calm. She is a confident girl because when she potties she spreads her scent with back kicks
She has a best friend ibiza (a female german shepherd living next to us). They always play and have fun
Her previous owners did not train her for 8 months which created some bad behaviors like nibbles and stubbornness. She has a mild tendency to destroy things like socks and underwear she can’t help herself so better to keep her away from laundry.
She is a demanding dog and requires a lot of attention, exercise and more importantly mental stimulation to keep her busy. . As smart as she is but is very easily distracted to the extent that she may not go potty unless you frequently encourage her so we made her a potty song to keep her focused. She can’t help herself from the excitement sometimes and this can continue for some time. She always has a need to be included in anything you do which is a clear sign of separation anxiety. She was like this since we adopted her and until now.
With some people, her reaction is not play excitement but fear based excitement... Tail between the legs, jumpy, i think fear based barking. If the person is calm and gives her space she will lead into affection. If the person shows fear she gets even more agitated.
At this point, she needs more outdoor time and more attention than we can provide for her. More importantly, we have pixie, a 10 year old cocker spaniel that truly hates her presence. Of course Layla being layla she always wants to play with her and Pixie gets very angry and anxious. Layla always wakes her up from naps just to play this made Pixie become aggressive with dogs,
human, and very territorial. These traits only came when Layla joined us. She doesn’t have long to live and we would prefer to let her have a peaceful remaining time. It pains me to say that we do not have the lifestyle that suits Layla anymore and we haven’t been successful to train her hyper activeness.
As a result of our new work schedules and our old dog situation, we have decided to find her a new home
